The Music Department is housed in a purpose-built block in Upper School with a large recital room and seven practice rooms. In addition, Little Stream has a self-contained music suite with teaching and recital space as well as two practice rooms.
Over 150 children learn a music instrument at school, having individual lessons with one of our peripatetic music teachers. There are choirs, orchestras and ensembles that the children are encouraged to join. These groups meet each week and regularly perform at informal and formal concerts throughout the year.
In 2010, the Chamber Choir and staff spent an extremely successful weekend of concerts and fun in Prague, during which they sang in the Tynska Cathedral in front of Bishop Vaklav Mali, a national hero of the Velvet Revolution. There were also opportunities for relaxation although they treated an audience to an impromptu concert on a riverboat trip.
