AUTUMN TERM 2010

Welcome back to a new school year at Dulwich Prep!

A letter from the Headmaster, Paul David and the School Calendar will be distributed to the youngest child in each family on Thursday. The Blue Book, weekly newsletter and other circulars will go home with children on Friday.

BEST UNIFORM FOR UPPER SCHOOL CHILDREN ON THE FIRST DAY OF TERM

FIRST DAY OF TERM – AUTUMN 2010 – THURSAY 2nd SEPTEMBER – Please could all children coming in to Upper School and Little Stream arrive at 8.30 am, and Nash House at 9.00 am. Parents with children in more than one part of the school may deliver them at 8.30am. Pick-up for Nash House will be 3.15pm on the first day, unless parents also have children in other parts of the school.

CALENDAR – The Calendar for the Autumn Term 2010 can be found on the school website (in the 'About Us' section).

SOCIAL EVENINGS – AUTUMN TERM 2010 – There will be three Social Evenings early next term, for parents of all children in Little Stream and Years 5 and 7. The Year 5 Evening will be on Tuesday 7th September at 7.00pm in the John Leakey Hall. The Little Stream Evening will be on Wednesday 8th September at 7.00 pm in the Little Stream Hall, and the Year 7 Evening will be on Thursday 16th September at 7.00 pm in the John Leakey Hall. These evenings are intended simply as get-togethers for parents and staff who may not yet know each other – they are nota good time to discuss your child’s progress with staff. There will be Parents’ Evenings later in the year, when all aspects of your child’s school career can be discussed.

Our Acting Head, Roger Kidney, unexpectedly launched the 24-hour charity Swimathon by swimming a length in his suit! We hope to raise lots of money for Lawrence's Roundabout Wells Appeal and for CLIC Sargent.
1A enjoyed their Victorian Day and all looked fantastic in their authentic costumes. Even our School Nurse, Mrs Rushton, joined in with her 'Victorian Nit Nurse' outfit!

Year 4 visited Bodiam Castle as part of their study of the Norman Conquest and the subsequent castle building across the country.  They enjoyed their talk in the Armour Room and were able to try on armoury from the mediaeval period.

Upper School children had a fantastic holiday ski-ing in Valloire, France. The weather was brilliant! Details of the 2011 trip will be sent home in the near future.
