Boarding at DCPS

Lodge Milk Shake Evening:

Evening swimming in the pool

Boarding is a very important part of life at Dulwich Preparatory School and helps prepare children to take responsibility for themselves and for others.  It combines companionship and fun with the stability of a safe, structured routine.

We know that many of our families are at full stretch.  Parents often have busy careers, while, at the same time, being determined to fulfil the demands of active young children.

Weekly, part-time or occasional boarding, where children can enjoy the wide-ranging facilities, have supervised prep and enjoy one another's company in a structured environment, could well be the answer.

The Boarders' enjoyed a great Christmas Party - a traditional tea was followed by activities and a disco.

ACCOMMODATION

Girl boarders live in the Manor, a beautiful 17th century Kent farmhouse, recently refurbished, surrounded by lawns and gardens, yet within the main body of the school.  The boys live in the Lodge, two minutes' walk or a bike ride across the playing-fields.  Both houses have well-equipped living-rooms with television, games rooms and computers, quiet rooms and spacious kitchens for after-school buns and pre-bedtime snacks.

STATEMENT OF BOARDING PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE

To provide a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment for the children in our care
To help the children become more confident and independent whilst learning to live and work with others
To respect other people and their views
To respect school property, and the property and possessions of others
To provide a platform on which to build for those children who will continue to board at their senior schools
To provide an environment that the children will derive benefit from in academic areas, sport, art, music, etc.
To encourage the development of lasting friendships and relationships
