Friends of DCPS

Every parent of a present or former pupil of the School is automatically a member of the Parents' Association, The Friends of Dulwich Preparatory School.  The primary aim of the Friends is to encourage a friendly and close relationship amongst the parents and between the parents and staff and the School itself.  The secondary aim is to raise money to provide additional facilities for the School.  Additionally, The Friends have decided to donate a proportion of their annual fundraising to charity. This year our main charity is CLIC Sargent who care for children and young people with cancer and their families in hospital and the community. We also support Lawrence's Roundabout Wells Appeal who raise money for the purchase of roundabout wells in Africa.

The DCPS Advertiser for May 2010 has been published. Anyone can place an advertisement, either as a business advert or in the classified section; children's ads are at an especially low rate. Click here to download a colour copy of the DCPS Advertiser.   Schoolstrader is a great website, where parents, staff, friends and family can advertise to each other or search for items for sale (from holiday homes and bikes to musical instruments and pets). It also has a popular notice board section, to promote local events and publish messages, and a directory of local recommended services. It is completely free - please check it out!

Regular social events in The Friends' calendar include the ever popular Fireworks' Evening, Discos for Little Stream children, the ear-splitting Fizz and Quiz Evenings for Upper School children, a leisurely bluebell walk with other parents and children followed by a delcious tea and, of couse, the biennial Summer Fair.

Past events have included a salsa dancing evening with a fish and chip supper, a Blues Night, a 70s Disco and a Parents' Quiz.

The Friends organise the six-monthly DCPS Advertiser  and manage the Upper School Swimming Pool during the Summer for the use of parents, pupils and staff.

There is a Friends' Committee, presently comprising over 20 parents and staff, which meets regularly throughout the academic year.  An AGM takes place every October, during which the Committee is elected and officers are chosen.  This AGM is open to all parents.  The officers for 2009/10 are:
