The ICT Centre is a purpose built room within the Coursehorn Building. It houses 24 computers linked to the site-wide network that connects all areas of the school.

The Centre is a true resource centre. Pupils work here in lessons, independently and after school. There are times when two or three different lessons will be working in the centre at the same time and we have a very high occupancy rate, which often exceeds 90%.

The school network consists of 13 servers running industry standard back office software such as MS Windows server 2000/2003, MS Exchange, MS ISA and MS SQL. All the servers are connected via a gigabit backbone.

All of the servers are backed up on a daily basis using a dedicated server running Veritas Backup Executive software connected to a HP tape library.

The ICT suites and classroom machines are all connected at 100 MB through CISCO switching equipment using copper and fibre connections.

We have a 2 MB ADSL link to the internet which is filtered using Surfcontrol Webfilter. This prevents pupils and staff from accessing inappropriate material.  All internal and external email is filtered for content and viruses.

Computers

All PCs use the Windows XP Operating System and have recently been upgraded to Service Pack 2.  Upper and Lower School and Nash House have an ICT suite each and a set of laptops which connect to the school network via Netgear and Cisco Access Points.
