Severe Weather Policy

It is our policy to stay open if at all possible when there is severe weather. Parents have the responsibility of getting children to and from school safely and need to decide if the journey is safe when snow and bad weather affects transport and/or walking conditions. We would ask that you inform the school by phone or e-mail if your child is absent due to severe weather conditions making the journey unsafe.

On occasions, the school may need to close due to weather and/or traffic conditions and in those situations a message will go out on Radio Kent (96.7FM, 104.2FM, 97.6FM) and Heart FM (103.1FM) if the decision is made before 7.00 am. We will also send a text message to parents who have given us their mobile phone numbers and post a message on the Noticeboard page of our website, www.dcpskent.org, if the school is not opening on a particular date.

If your child arrives late for school, please report to the School Office in Upper School, or the relevant Form Teachers in Little Stream and Nash House so that we know who is in school throughout the day.

If weather or road conditions worsen during the day, you may decide you wish to collect your children earlier than normal. Please telephone or e-mail us before arriving at school. Children must be signed-out if they leave before normal pick-up time.
