Our catering staff and expert cooks, Carol, Pam,Viv, Lisa and Mo, prepare all food on site and produce nutritious meals of very high standard, to suit all tastes. All meat is organic and free-range from Park Farms in Kent. Other fresh food is sourced locally and it is our policy to support the Cranbrook community whenever possible. Meals are served in the recently modernised Dining Hall, where all members of the school meet.

All children are given a variety of food at break-time and at the same time milk is freely available. The school has also installed a number of refrigerated water-fountains and children are allowed to use these at any time.

There is a full salad bar available every day which includes a selection of cold meats and cheese with an extensive selection of home-made salads. We also provide soup and bread twice a week. Fresh fruit is always offered as an alternative pudding and we endeavour to include luxury fruits such as fresh pineapple and water melon as well as the staple favourites. Pupils with special dietary requirements can easily be accommodated.

The Catering Department works closely with the teaching staff and often links the menus with items children are covering as part of the curriculum. Recently the Romans visited -French Food Week, Game Week and British Food Fortnight have also featured on our menus.

In the evenings boarders are given 'buns' at 4.00pm and a high tea at 5.15pm. The children sit in a relaxed atmosphere in 'family groups' and the Domestic Bursar is always happy to work with the children to create menus that they will find interesting and tasty. Often this involves themed nights such asFondue evenings, Indian Nights and BBQs. In the warmer weather, tea is served outside.

We always welcome parents to join us at lunchtime and if you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or e-mail shighwood@dcpskent.org.
